Stereotypes in film

Stereotypes are characters in a media text who are 'types' rather than complex people.

Stereotypes are usually defines by their role and will not usually be developed in any depth.

Children's media texts often make extensive use of stereotypes because they enable a young audience to identify vert quickly with the actions and situation

Stereotypes are usually negative representations and most have a lot of assumptions and 'cultural capital' invested in them-again usually for negative effect.

Stereotypes also usually represent an entire social group in a single character-such as the naive secretary, the spoilt child or the drunken Irishman.

From the Thriller I’ve watch, the protagonist is always white man, and the antagonist are always ethnic people
