Complementary (Types of colour schemes)

MONOCHROMATIC:

Complementary colours live opposite each other on the colour wheel, create contrasting (i.e. warm vs. cool)

E.g. orange and blue are complementary colours commonly used in many blockbuster films. The dueling colours are often associated with conflict, whether internal or external.
No matter the colour selection, complementary colours combine warm and cool colours to produce a high-contrast, vibrant tension in the film.

Examples:
Amelie (2001)

X-Men: Apocalypse, The Island, Max Max: Fury Road, Transformers
